Setting it up, step by step
Decide your route: portal, or an Android player
Choose up front, because MAG and Formuler part ways here. A MAG is a pure portal box, using the portal URL and nothing besides. A Formuler can do the same through MyTVOnline, but since it also runs Android you could instead sideload TiViMate and use the standard Xtream login. Want TiViMate's grid guide? Take the Android route on a Formuler. Want the simplest, steadiest setup? Use the portal on either box.
Find the MAC address and send it over
The MAC is printed on the label under the box and also shows under Settings, then About device. On a MAG it opens with 00:1A:79. Rather than retype it, photograph the label and send that to us on WhatsApp so no character can go astray. Wait for our confirmation before you carry on.
MAG: enter the portal URL
On the MAG, head to Settings, System settings, Servers, Portals. Name Portal 1 anything you like, paste in the portal address we sent, save it, and restart the box. The portal will not load until that restart happens, so do not skip it or take an empty screen for failure.
Formuler: set up MyTVOnline
On a Formuler, open MyTVOnline 2 or 3 and choose Add Portal, giving it a name and the portal address. Alternatively pick the Xtream Codes option and use the standard server, username and password. A Formuler will also happily run Android players such as TiViMate if you would rather have that grid guide.
Load the line-up and mark favourites
Once it has restarted, the box brings your full line-up down alongside the built-in guide. Reach for the remote's coloured buttons to open the EPG and flag favourites, and put together a short row of the UK and Irish channels you genuinely watch, BBC One, ITV1, RTE One, Sky Sports and the rest, so the thousands of others stay out from under your feet on a night when the football is on.
Verify on a live channel
Bring up BBC One or RTE One and check the guide reads tonight correctly in GMT or BST, then start a Sky Sports, TNT Sports or GAA feed and watch the picture hold rock steady, which is precisely why these boxes exist. Give it a few minutes on a busy channel rather than a ten-second glance, since the steadiness is the whole point. Should "STB blocked" appear in place of a picture, the MAC still needs sorting, and the fix is just below.
If something will not play
The portal shows "STB blocked" or a blank screen
One of two things is behind it: the MAC is not yet activated at our end, or a character slipped when it was sent to us. The dependable fix is a photograph of the label rather than a retyped MAC, because one transposed character points the portal at the wrong box entirely. As soon as we have the correct MAC in front of us, this almost always clears inside a few minutes.
The picture is fine on Wi-Fi but you want it flawless
A MAG or Formuler truly comes into its own on a wired line. Run an Ethernet cable from the router to the box in place of Wi-Fi and the evening congestion that plagues a stick largely disappears. These decoders were designed to be cabled, and across a busy Saturday of kick-offs the difference is easy to see.
The guide is missing or a day behind
Let the first EPG download finish before judging it, then restart the box. If the schedule is still adrift, check the box's own date, time and time zone are set to the UK or Ireland, because a portal box prints its local clock onto the guide, and a time zone left on the factory setting drags every programme out of place.
The remote is slow or keeps losing the box
MAG and Formuler remotes are infrared, so they need a clear line of sight to the box; tuck the box behind the telly and response goes to pot. Move it where the remote can see it, swap the batteries if presses are being missed, and if you would rather, most of these boxes pair a Bluetooth or app remote that does not care about line of sight.

Is a MAG box better than a Firestick for IPTV?
For a main telly in daily use, yes: a better remote, a snappier guide, a cabled-in picture that holds through the busy evenings, and nothing ever to sideload. Reckon on roughly $120 to $180 for the box, against $30 to $50 for a Firestick. For a spare bedroom set, the stick is the smarter spend and the gap goes unnoticed; the MAG belongs on the screen where the football lives.
Do I need to type anything into a MAG box myself?
Barely a thing. You send us the MAC, we switch the portal on, and you paste the portal address a single time and restart. A MAG has no username or password to key in at all, which is a large part of why these boxes suit anyone who would sooner not fiddle. A Formuler works the same way by portal, or takes a full Xtream login if you go down the Android route.
Which MAG or Formuler model should I buy in the UK?
Any current MAG from Infomir, such as a MAG 524 or 540, or a Formuler such as the Z8, Z10 or Z11, will run Orca4KTV happily. The newer models decode 4K more comfortably, which matters if ultra-HD sport is the point. A Formuler has the edge if you might also want Android players like TiViMate; a MAG is the simpler, portal-only choice if you never will.
