Setting it up, step by step
Settle on a player and a sign-in method
Decide before you install, because the players sign in by different routes. IPTV Smarters Player is free and takes the Xtream login on the set itself. iPlayTV and GSE Smart IPTV cost a one-off amount and lay the channels out more neatly, while Smart IPTV uses the MAC-upload method. For most LG owners the free Smarters path is the fastest to a picture; the paid apps only justify the fee if the interface genuinely matters to you.
Open the LG Content Store
Press Home, open the LG Content Store, cross to Apps and use the search box in there. This is LG's store rather than a web page, and it is where every legitimate webOS player comes from.
Install a real player, not a lookalike
Search IPTV Smarters Player, iPlayTV or GSE Smart IPTV. Smarters costs nothing; the other two ask a one-off price for a tidier interface. Anything named TiviMato or Tivimax is not TiViMate, which has no webOS build in existence, so keep your money in your pocket there.
Hand over your Orca4KTV details
Smarters wants Login with Xtream Codes API, then the username, password and server address exactly as sent. Smart IPTV instead wants the M3U link uploaded to the MAC address it shows, done at siptv.app/mylist on a phone or laptop. Use the one that matches whatever you installed.
Restart to bring in the line-up
Close the player fully and reopen it. It pulls down the whole line-up with its built-in guide. The coloured buttons on the LG Magic Remote drive favourites and the guide, and that is the part that makes an LG genuinely pleasant to live with day to day.
Verify, then tidy the channel list
Open BBC One, ITV1 or RTE One, check the guide reads correctly in GMT or BST, and play a Sky Sports or TNT Sports feed to confirm steady playback. Then pin the household's channels as favourites so the 25,000+ list stays out of your way each night. A black screen with sound means the decoder wants changing, not that the channel is down.
If something will not play
Sound plays but the screen stays black
This is a decoder mismatch, not a dead channel, and it is the classic LG hiccup. Flip the player to native or hardware decoding in its settings, or pick the lower-bitrate copy of that channel, which exists for most sport feeds. One of those two almost always brings the picture back.
The LG Content Store will not surface the app
Every so often a player drops out of a regional catalogue for a spell. IPTV Smarters Player is the most reliably stocked, so try it first. If nothing suitable is listed for your set, ask support on WhatsApp for a player that is currently live in the LG store, rather than hunting for another way around it.
The guide is empty or an hour out
Give the first EPG download time to finish, then force an update from the app settings. If the schedule fills but sits an hour off, check the set's own clock and time zone are set to the UK or Ireland, because webOS stamps the guide with the set's time zone and a wrong clock slides every programme along.

Which IPTV app works best on LG TVs?
For a first choice, IPTV Smarters Player: free, takes the Xtream login and carries a full guide. Smart IPTV is the leaner alternative and very stable once set up, in return for a small one-time fee. Both run on webOS 3.0 and later, so any LG from 2016 onward will happily take one or the other.
Is there a TiViMate app for LG webOS?
None, and there never has been. TiViMate is Android-only, so it lives on Firesticks and Android boxes but not on LG or Samsung televisions. To get its grid guide onto an LG, the only route is to plug a Firestick or Android box into a spare HDMI port and run TiViMate from there.
